International Conference

QASM has partnered with Tania and SkiItaly.com for over a decade to deliver a fantastic offshore conference every two years.

From the Corvara to Bormio, Livigno to Madonna, and every mountain in between, SkiItaly.com have put on a luxurious, stress-free package for QASM, fulfilling the brief of delivering 4-star ski-in ski-out facilities that are family friendly and able to host a medical conference. Tania has carefully cultivated hotels that we can often book-out (or come close too) giving us more flexibility over things such as menus, dining times, and child friendly options. Wherever the conference is, Tania connects us with excellent ski hire companies, who tailor your skis to perfection, and are available all week should you want to try a different style of ski (or even snowboard!). Tania recruits the most experienced ski-guides, combining local knowledge and often world championship level skills. We have been fortunate to also ski and dine with famous skiers of Italian history including Giorgio Rocca and Petro Vitalini.

Academic Program

QASM features specialists from the fields of Anesthetics, Dermatology, Colorectal Surgery, General Practice, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Sports Medicine, along with Physiotherapy, Paramedicine, Nursing, Medical and Practice Administration and other areas of interest. Presentations are delivered in a collegiate, welcoming environment.

All delegates are asked to deliver a talk about something of interest to the membership. Generally, this will be on a topic from your own field of medicine or allied health. Over the years, we have also had talks from delegates topics ranging from practicing medicine in harsh environments, the history of orthopedics, anaphylaxis in sport, head injuries, advances in ski jacket technology, quarantine and biosecurity, polar medicine, and charity eye missions in Asia. Most, if not all, delegates enjoy hearing about new developments in fields other than their own, and find the academic sessions of the meeting fruitful.

Usually, first attendees are relieved of the pressure to speak, but many members have ‘cut their teeth’ of public speaking at a QASM meeting. The audience is gentle, encouraging, and forgiving of its speakers. Additional morning conference sessions are panel discussions and debates, and you may be asked to participate in one of these.

Guideline for talks is 15-20 minutes for presentation, 5-10 minutes for questions and discussion. Powerpoint or similar is recommended, bring your own laptop or a USB.

2025 Program to be published soon!
